Animarkt, the stop motion forum that takes place in Lodz this October, have announced the successful 15 projects that will be taking part in this year’s Pitching competition. Each applicant will participate in pitching training sessions with tutors experienced in animation production; and then go on to the pitching competition.

The UK has two projects in competition this year; Salvation Has No Name by Joseph Wallace, and Prime Cuts by Marnik Loysen. Poland is the only other country to have 2 projects taking part, with a wide range of countries making up the rest of the stop motion projects: Estonia, Mexico, Iran, Argentina, Chile, Czech Rep, Lithuania, Portugal, Netherlands, Hungary, Ukraine, Germany, Italy France  – all with one project each (some are co-productions).

UK director, Joseph Wallace, said:

Funding for independent animation in the UK has been near non-existent for the past fifteen years. With organisations such as the Animation Alliance and Animation UK, this is starting to change, but for many filmmakers, both in the UK and abroad, co-productions are one of the only ways to get a short film made. So I’m delighted to have been selected for Animarkt 2018 and to have the opportunity to pitch my project. In the current political climate I think it’s hugely important for us UK animators to reach out to our friends in Europe and establish connections and collaborations that can live on in the future.
