19 Animated Features up for the Oscar

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences have released a statement today announcing that 19 animated feature films are in contest for the Animated Feature Film Oscar at the 86th Academy Awards. The 19 hopeful films will be condensed down to 3 – 5 nominated films on January 16, 2014.

This years collection of films are an interesting mix of haunting stop-motion, family-friendly CG from well known studios to much smaller studios, as well as classic  French & Japanese 2D animation.

A range of  films up for awards some of which are yet to be released in the UK. Who do you think will win? Take part in our poll here, the poll will close on the 16th January when the Academy reduce the number of nominees. You can also let us know what you think in the comments section below.
