2015 BAFTA Nominations Announced

// News

The 2015 British Academy Film and Television Awards have been announced. The awards that celebrate the national and international film industry are one of the main focal points of every award season and whilst the entire industry is celebrated and of course, Skwigly has eyes on only one thing – the animators! Last year Disney and the NFTS won, who will win this year?

So here are the nominations for the important BAFTA’s this year.

Animated Film in 2015

This year 3 nominations have made the cut. What is most interesting about this category is that every year the film that wins this category goes on to win the Oscar too. A fact I’ve relayed over the years and nothing seems to have changed. Will the pattern continue in 2015 and is the Oscars now a three horse race?

The Boxtrolls
Anthony Stacchi, Graham Annable

The Lego Movie
Phil Lord, Christopher Miller

Big Hero 6
Don Hall, Chris Williams

British Short Animation in 2015

It always seems that the british short form in animation belongs to students, here we have the two schools most likely to get at least a nomination with The Bigger Picture hailing from the NFTS and My Dad coming from the RCA. Monkey Love Experiments directors previously won the award in 2013 for their ECA graduation film The Making of Longbird.
