Animation UK: 2012 Update

// News

Happy New Year everyone!

December and January have been busy months for us and things are continuing to move along at a great pace.

The first piece of great news to share is that I met up with Ed Vaisey in Westminster and he continues to support us and is currently communicating with the Treasury and fighting for our cause. The Treasury have already received a letter from us so now we just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope they will respond to our pleas. This letter has also already managed to create some great press coverage and articles have appeared in The Telegraph and Broadcast.

I am proud to announce that a further three companies have joined Animation UK, two brand new animation companies called Komixx and Snapper Productions and returning animation legends Cosgrove Hall.  They are all big believers in UK talent and believe that while the quality in Britain is great it is difficult and time consuming to close the financing without the advantage of the tax breaks and other incentives on offer in many other countries.

Komixx Entertainment LTD acknowledges that their current support is coming from an investor level rather than a company level and believes that if the government were to add tax credits in the UK we would become the single best place to go for animation in the world.

It is fantastic news that these three great companies have joined Animation UK and they are perfect examples of how people are trying to keep work in the UK and making an effort to employ British talent yet understand the industry is under great strain and we desperately need government help.

Our support is growing endlessly and with the DCMS on board and now the treasury who finally seem to be listening, all eyes are on the budget in March to see if the government will take the small steps needed to ensure the UK animation industry remains the jewel in the crown of British AV creativity.

Fingers and toes crossed!
