Annecy 2011 – Day 6: The Winners

// Reviews (Festival)

Annecy 2011 was a wonderful event.  I got to meet some of the industry’s greatest talent, see what is up-and-coming in the world of animation through work in progress seminars, find out how some of today’s best films have been made with ‘making of’ presentations and chat with the talent set to take future festivals by storm.  This is the best thing about festivals such as this; it’s a great mix that people from every level of the industry can enjoy.

All good things must indeed come to an end, and Annecy always comes to a spectacular end, with the elaborate awards ceremony. Starring Serge Bromberg as the host of the awards, he made his entrance on horseback dressed as a cowboy. After a few awards and a quick dance routine later he returned as a 1930’s gangster.  I have no idea why though, as it was all in French and my translation earpiece was not working!

However, what was clear was that the real talents of the festival were being praised and in some cases being rewarded with an exclusive Annecy Crystal.
