Annecy 2016 to welcome Guillermo del Toro

The Annecy festival have this week announced its latest 2016 Masterclass event in which award-winning master storyteller Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Crimson Peak) who will be discussing his prolific career and offering up a first ever glimpse of his latest project, the DreamWorks animated series Trollhunters.

The series, which is slated to premiere on Netflix later this year and adapted from the illustrated book by del Toro and Daniel Kraus, will “unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around the residents of the fictional suburb of Arcadia who make a startling discovery that the world beneath their hometown is as vast and mind-blowing as anything on the surface.”

As well as his acclaimed work as a director, del Toro is also highly regarded as a screenwriter, filmmaker, producer and author, whose projects span TV, features, novels and comic books. His strong association with fantasy, adventure and bizarrely compelling creatures are sure to be at play in Trollhunters, in which viewers can expect “vast and vibrant worlds with complex human and troll characters that create a cinematic television experience”.

The Masterclass will take place on Wednesday 15th June at 4 pm and will be open to Meetings and Mifa badgeholders, by reservation. For more info visit annecy.org
