Annecy 2018: The Headliner Guests

Once again, the Festival is welcoming big names to Annecy: directors, producers and actors are all coming to have their voices heard.

This year’s Festival include the following, in “order of appearance”:

Michel Ocelot, for the screening event of Dilili in Paris with the young actress who performed the voice of Dilili (Monday, 8:30 pm, Bonlieu Grande salle – invitation only

The director Carlos Saldanha will present “The Making of Ferdinand“: a behind-the-scenes look at the set of this feature film that received an Oscars nomination (Monday, 4:30 pm, Bonlieu Petite salle).

Mark Osborne (director of The Little Prince and WIA Chair of Male Allies) will lead one of the debates as part of the Women in Animation World Summit (WIA and Les Femmes s’Animent): What 50/50 Means to Allies (parity in the eyes of men), Monday 10th, 2:00-3:00 pm.Julie Ann Crommett, vice president of Multicultural Audience Engagement at the Walt Disney Company and secretary of WIA, as well as Bonnie Arnold, producer, DreamWorks Animation; Vanessa Morrison, president, Fox Family; Dorota Kobiela, director, Loving Vincent; Vicky Jenson, director, Shrek, Shark Tale.

Mamoru Hosoda, director of many films, including The Boy and the Beast and Mirai, which is in competition this year. Hosoda will be present at the presentation of the film on Tuesday 12th at 8:30 pm and the press conference on the following day (9:15 am, Press Meeting Corner).

Nora Twomey, director of The Breadwinner, and Golshifteh Farahani, who performed the voice of the young girl, will present the film on Wednesday at 10:30 am in the Bonlieu Grande salle and will talk to the press during the press conference (12:00 pm, Press Meeting Corner).

Zabou Breitman and Éléa Gobbé Mévellec will present the Work in Progress The Swallows of Kabul, Tuesday 12th at 11:15 am, salle Pierre Lamy.

Richard Williams, patron of the 2nd Mifa Campus, will be present throughout the week.

Genndy Tartakovsky will present the non-finalised version of the film Hotel Transylvania 3 on Wednesday 13th at 6:00 pm, Bonlieu Grande salle. The film’s producer Michelle Murdocca will also be present.

Denis Do, director of Funan, will take us to the upheaval in Cambodia during the terrible era of the Khmer Rouge. He will present his film on Wednesday at 8:30 pm, Bonlieu Grande salle, and will talk about the film with his team, made up of Sébastien Onomo, producer, Annemie Degryse, producter, David Grumbach, producer and distributor, and Bérénice Béjo (voice), during the press conference on Thursday 14th at 9:15 am at the Press Meeting Corner.

Dean DeBlois will present nearly 20 minutes of exclusive footage from How to Train Your Dragon, Thursday 14th, 10:30 am.

As for Brad Bird, he will present the world exclusive of The Incredibles 2, as well as receiving the Honorary Cristal as a tribute to his whole career.

The composer Éric Neveux, who has written more than 60 pieces of music for films and just as many for series and fiction programmes on television, will give a recap about his work on the animated films Zombillenium and Richard the Stork on Friday 15th June at 2:30 pm, Bonlieu Petite salle.

An exceptional concert by Dominique A will take place against a backdrop of animation created live by Sébastien Laudenbach at the Brise Glace on Friday 15th at 9:00 pm.
