Annecy 2018: UK Highlights!

The world’s largest animation festival returns to the glistening shores of Lake Annecy this June and brings with it an plethora of international showmanship from across the globe.

Annecy 2018 is set to feature screening competitions, features, work in progress reviews and whole load more, so where does the UK industry fit into all this? As well as UK companies setting out their stall at MIFA along the flagship AnimationUK stall there are many events that you might want to reserve tickets for when reservations open.

Here’s a selection of the UK talent on display at Annecy this year.

Short Films in Competition

The UK finds itself with three films in competition this year, two already accoladed online with a third available to watch on the BFI Player. Don’t just click play below, seek out these films where they are meant to be seen – on the big screen. This year Annecy will not be screening films out of competition.

Graduation Films in Competition

This years graduation films showcase seven film from the UK, or perhaps it might be easier to say ‘London’ with the usually schools of the RCA and NFTS flying the flag for UK animation grads. Not to whine Annecy, but there are animation schools outside of the capital as well.

A UK and Ireland co production sees the world of Connor Finnegan’s Fear of Flying expanded into a family friendly series. 101 Dalmatian Street
London studio Passion will be sending along Executive Producer Cara Speller, Director Miklos Weigert, Head Writer Maria O’Loughlin and Art writer Tristan Menard to explain the process behind stylish new pooch project 101 Dalmatian St a new Disney show which takes the Pongo and Pedita legacy and passes it on to new characters Dolly and Dylan.
