Music and animation singing from the same hymn sheet

Music in animation is the second theme to be honoured during the 2018 Festival. It was essential for Marcel Jean, artistic director, “to give the chance to composers to speak, allocate them an important place in the Festival programme, and allow the public and professionals to meet each other”. The musical world of animation will thus be explored throughout this week of festivities.

  • Much more than a concert, this is an unprecedented artistic performance that awaits you! Electro-rock compositions from the album Toute Latitude by Dominique A are accompanied by dreamlike images that are created live by the animation director Sébastien Laudenbach! Tinged with nature, the exciting treasures, rays of sunlight and enigmatic evocations interact intermittently with the scenery on display.
  • Octuor de France: The musicians of the Octuor de France will play live on Friday 15th June at 9:00 pm in the Bonlieu Petite salle. It will be an opportunity for rediscovering the classics of animated films in an original music score written by Gabriel Thibaudeau.
  • Concert film – En sortant de l’école: Short films inspired by poetry and created by young directors from French animation schools will be interpreted live by four musician-narrators. These 16 films from the “En sortant de l’école” collection will be screened in the courtyard of the château d’Annecy during a concert film on Thursday 14th June at 10:00 pm.

Midnight Specials

At the end of the evening, allow yourself to be caught up in the madness of the Midnight Specials in the darkness of Annecy’s cinemas. There are several programmes for your enjoyment: WTF, Spike & Mike’s Sick and Twisted Animation Festival, Titmouse Presents…Exclusively for a mature audience, these night-time screenings present the dark, subversive, sexy, crazy and controversial in a hair-raising event!

Annecy celebrates Brazilian animation

This year, the Annecy Festival will shake to the rhythms of Brazil! Brazilian animation will be honoured throughout the week in order to highlight the country’s cultural energy, in particular from a cinematographic point of view.
