East End Film Festival (EEFF) presents a FREE MOVIE WEEKEND in association with Get Living London, the residential owner and rental management company at East Village – the former athlete’s village. It includes special screenings of Jon Favreau’s stellar new comedy CHEF, football documentary THE SECOND GAME, MORPH-MAKING WORKSHOPS, food trucks, family fun and lots more.

The East Village E20 Big Screen will take place on 14 and 15 June and is part of EEFF’s on-going commitment to provide free film events in the heart of east London. Come to East Village, the former athlete’s village in London E20 to celebrate the most important F’s: Football, Food, Film, Fathers and Families – all on a huge outdoor screen!

To tie-in with England’s first World Cup game, Saturday 14 June is EEFF’s own take on football focus, including a special screening of Romanian football documentary THE SECOND GAME (dir: Corneliu Porumboiu, Romania) in which the filmmaker and his father re-watch a snow-hampered Romanian match from 1988 – a significant game in which the father was referee and here offers moving commentary on the beautiful game. There’ll be more football-themed films from Copa90, the YouTube football channel that knows there is no final whistle.

Be wowed by some keepy-uppy allstars (or bring a ball and have a go yourself). Get involved in Aardman Morph-making workshops – fun for parents and kids alike, or sit back and enjoy some of the delicious food on offer.

Nourishment is the order of the day for Sunday 15 June, which sees an exclusive screening of Jon Favreau’s latest star-studded feature CHEF ahead of its UK theatrical release. Co-starring Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sofía Vergara, Dustin Hoffman and John Leguizamo, it tells of a father pulling his estranged family back together as he goes through a career transition from restauranteur to food truck owner – it’s a perfect fit for Fathers Day which falls on Sunday too.

Positioned next to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, East Village is located within 285 hectares of parkland, waterways and nature trails connected by paths for jogging, cycling and walking. Not only will the Village Screen be set in picturesque surroundings, it’s easy to get to as well!  As one of the best connected neighbourhoods in London with Stratford International and Stratford Regional stations – the closest stations to East Village. You could be at East Village from the west end in 20 minutes, from St Pancras International in 6 minutes (by High Speed 1) and from Canary Wharf in 12 minutes.

Come and enjoy some of the coolest and newest films in one of London’s newest neighbourhoods for FREE on June 14-15.

This weekend is made possible by the support of Get LivingLondon at East Village.
