Blinkink directors Alex Grigg and Joe Pelling joined forces to direct a series of comical films for energy company Bulb. The duo enlisted the voice-over talents of comedians Tim Key and Ellie White who take on the roles of unicorns, household appliances, and the victims of an uncontrollably expanding kelp.

Hailing from Australia, Alex Grigg is known for his textually rich yet understated 2D animation, and has recently completed projects for Jon Hopkins, WeTransfer and E4. Joe Pelling is perhaps better known as one half of directing duo Becky & Joe, the minds behind cult Youtube phenomenon Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared. Which has recently translated its online success into a TV pilot, that premiered last week at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Alex’s graphic, playful animation and Joe’s knack for surreal comedy were the perfect combination for Bulb’s first ever TV campaign.

Made with advertising agency Anomaly, this campaign comes as Bulb were recently named Britain’s fastest growing company, now providing 100% renewable electricity and 10% green gas to more than 900,000 members across the UK. Bulb, founded in 2015, has a simple purpose: to make the industry better by making energy simpler, cheaper and greener.

The films are available to watch on the Blinkink website.
