Children’s publishers and literary agents, children’s TV, animation and film companies and children’s interactive, games and App producers are all heading to the CMC Rights Exchange in London on Friday 7 November.

CMC Editorial Director Greg Childs says: ‘The CMC Rights Exchange is a brand new one-day event designed to connect players in the children’s publishing and media industries so that they can trade rights and services, and also build the new partnerships they need to make a success of IP and brands.’

He added: ‘Delegates from across the children’s industries will be able to come to our event and meet potential partners at this one-stop shop. As the old model of licensing published content is being superseded by new forms of partnership or service delivery models, there needs to be a forum to understand, explore and negotiate those new relationships. It’s a totally new form of market – the CMC Rights Exchange.’

The morning at the CMC Rights Exchange will see conference-style sessions exploring case studies and executive opinion on new ways of building content brands, how the new forms of partnership are working in practice, and the perspectives of the various sides of the kids’ media industries on the way forward for authors’ works across a multiplicity of platforms.

A key component of this brand new event will be the opportunity for delegates to book one-to-one meetings with each other using a bespoke booking system.  Delegates will be able to profile themselves on the CMC’s Meeting Mojo booking system, providing all the other attendees with information on their expertise, portfolio and interests – thus making the process relevant and efficient on both sides.

The CMC Rights Exchange takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Two Temple Place – a spectacular late Victorian Mansion built by William Waldorf Astor in the heart of London, rarely seen and exclusively housing the CMC Rights Exchangefor the day.

The Media Partner for the CMC Rights Exchange is The Bookseller, the leading business magazine for the book industry.

The CMC Rights Exchange will be managed and curated by The Children’s Media Conference (CMC), the acknowledged leader in events for the children’s content industries. The CMC is known for its major conference which it runs every July in Sheffield. This year’s conference had attendances from 1001 delegates, over 200 speakers, and ran over 50 workshops, panels and masterclasses between 2 and 4 July.  A major sidebar of the conference is the International Exchange which saw over 50 international guests and experts in children’s content hold over 600 one-to-one meetings with 150 UK delegates.

The CMC also organises the UK@Kidscreen delegation. The CMC took over 65 delegates to the US for a key children’s market, the Kidscreen Summit. Reported business at Kidscreen was over £35million.

This far-reaching expertise in children’s content lies behind the launch of the CMC Rights Exchange, a dedicated and tailored event that will help agents, publishers and producers bridge the boundaries between them and build new approaches to partnership and rights exchange.
