Advent Animation 2014 – Dec 16: Daddy Christmas (Blue Zoo)

Blue Zoo Studios has put together another Christmas spot this year. This hybrid production might be pushing the envelope of good taste for the Christmas cheer crowd. But it’s hard to argue with Blue Zoo’s professional attention to every animated detail.

For creating the environment of the animation, all the way back in October while everyone was celebrating Halloween – we were busy converting one of our edit suites into messy, grotty living room then decorating it with the tackiest Christmas decorations we could find! Then filmed this as live-action backplates for the animation.
What would Blue Zoo bring to the Global Animator’s Holiday Potluck Party?
Well for a start we’d bring a large group of animators who would never miss a party!
For a world party it would have to be some British party classics – a cheese & pineapple hedgehog centrepiece surrounded with a sea of Twiglets!
What’s one thing you are looking forward to in the new year?
We’ve just started making our new animated show Digby Dragon, so can’t wait to see that come together!
