Bristol’s own Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival has launched its Call for Entries for its landmark 20th edition, taking place this September (16th-21st)

Filmmakers and animators the world over are invited to submit work for the chance to be showcased in front of avid audiences, industry professionals, talent spotters, journalists and peers, with work selected for the competition having the chance to qualify for the Oscars, the BAFTAs, the European Film Awards and the Cartoon d’Or.

“The festival is an important UK gateway for upcoming talent and 2013 Encounters Grand Prix winner Orbit Ever After by Jamie Stone and animation Everything I Can See From Here by Bjorn-Erik Aschim and Sam Taylor have both been nominated for BAFTAs.” – David Sproxton, Encounters Chairman

The Call for Entries deadlines are as follows:

Films completed in 2013 – 28th March
Films completed in 2014 – 16th May
Depict! (90 second film competition) – 7th July

Films of any genre with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, completed after January 2013, are eligible. Submissions are made through the Reelport website, which will host the Encounters Digital Viewing Library, making all films available online for delegates.
