America had Disney – the UK had Halas and Batchelor. Discover their legacy in this special event.

Where would British animation be without its ‘King and Queen’: the Hungarian John Halas, and the Watford-born Joy Batchelor, directors of Britain’s first animated feature film Animal Farm? This screening of highlights and new discoveries from the Halas & Batchelor Collection – now housed at the BFI National Archive – will be accompanied by the insights of their daughter Vivien Halas, who has done so much to safeguard their legacy.
