Alex Widdowson will be screening a selection of his own animated documentaries along with films by other directors to give in examine the wider context of documentary animation as a growing discipline.

Alex is a London-based animation director and critical writer with a specific focus in the growing discipline of animated documentary. Many of the animated documentary shorts he directed focus on topics which might be avoided in polite conversation, such as mental illness, sexual dysfunction and drug abuse.

Alex has lectured on the field and published over 40 articles on animateddocumentary.com, the UK’s leading blog in the area. He chronicles his own research and practice at https://documentaryanimationdiscourse.wordpress.com/

Alex is currently a student at the Royal College of Art and the artist in residence at the Philadelphia Association, a psychotherapy organisation founded by the radical psychiatrist R. D. Laing.
