Frozen 2 Is On The Way
The Oscar winning Frozen is set to get a sequel, Disney have confirmed.
The news was announced at the Walt Disney Company’s annual shareholder meeting in San Francisco on Thursday. Creating a sequel based on this franchise hardly seems a risk as the film has generated $1.3 billion at the box office alone, on top of the mountains of merchandise the film generates and sells on a daily basis.
The Frozen franchise continues sooner than that with the short film Frozen Fever hitting cinemas soon alongside the live action Cinderella. Though theatrical sequels are rare for Disney this isn’t the first time we’ve seen them released. The Rescuers Down Under was the first sequel to be part of the Disney features canon with Fantasia 2000 and Winnie the Pooh following. Disney sequels usually find their way onto DVD (Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time anyone?) but with $1.3 billion in the bank it seems a clear choice that Frozen would be heading back to the big screen.
