Help Bring John Kricfalusi’s New Film to Life!

// News

Veteran animation legend and industry game-changer John Kricfalusi has recently followed in the footsteps of similarly independent directors such as Bill Plympton to crowdfund “Cans Without Labels”, his latest short film project.

Inspired by his real father’s frugality and wonderment at the unknown delights of discounted canned food, the cartoon will star George Liquor, staple of Kricfalusi’s cartoon projects over the years and all-around manly American. The story features Liquor (voiced as always by Mike Pataki in his last recorded performance before his unfortunate passing last year) extolling the virtues of “Cans without labels” to his nephews, Slab’n’Ernie.

In exchange for contributing to the film, a vast array of Spumco goodies, rarities and memorabilia are on offer to any fans who wish to donate! For specifics – and to read/watch the pitch in full – check out the project’s Kickstarter page here.

If the venture proves successful, Kricfalusi promises to “train some new cartoonists and animators as well and the world of animation will be that much richer”.  There’s just over a fortnight to donate and the more coveted incentives are selling out, so act fast!

Keep your eyes skinned this week for an in-depth Skwigly feature on the project and Mr. Kricfalusi himself! In the meantime animation fans can keep updated on his work and industry insights via his blog, All Kinds of Stuff.
