LEFT by Eamonn o’Neill

// Featured

As a special Easter treat, RCA graduate and Studio AKA director Eamonn O’Neill has released his new short film LEFT, fresh after it’s global festival tour. The film flits between the past and present day and shows the relationship between two young boys who grow up together, one moving toward a brighter future, the other seemingly ending his own in its tracks.

The gritty short presents the often-unhealthy relationship that can be left between childhood friends when different personalities, family lives and other people come between them. Linked by their past and shared experiences, Neil and Jo struggle to remain part of the same world.

The brutal honesty of the script is nothing new when it comes to O’Neill’s work; the director’s frequently sharp and sporadic dialogue is teamed with beautifully drawn imagery that, with subtly movement and brilliant pacing, draws the attention of the viewer into a very real and believable world. O’Neill’s other films including My Day and the BAFTA-nominated I’M FINE THANKS have struck a cord with animation fans around the world.

A raw film that hits you, like a shovel to the head!
