‘The Lego Batman Movie’ – first teaser trailers released

// News

This week has offered up some up the first glimpses of Warner Bros.’ follow-up to its joyful 2014 hit The Lego Movie with the release of early images and poster art for next year’s The Lego Batman Movie. The film sees Will Arnett (of Arrested Development and BoJack Horseman fame) reprising his role as Lego Batman, a notably more tongue-in-cheek portrayal than most recent incarnations of the character. Today the studio released the first teaser trailer for the film, offering a look at what to expect from within the Batcave and boasting an introduction from the multi-talented caped crusader himself.

Though clearly a more Batman-centric piece, it’s clear that the approach to the animation style and humour is very much in the same mold as its predecessor The Lego Movie itself, which is no bad thing. Set to be released in 2017, the film will be directed by The Lego Movie animation supervisor Chris McKay and written by Pride & Prejudice & Zombies scribe Seth Grahame-Smith.

Update: Warner Bros. have swiftly followed up the first teaser with a second, this time giving audiences a look at Wayne Manor, Batman’s incredible reflexes and Ralph Fiennes’s turn as humble servant Alfred. Watch below:
