Nickelodeon’s Future is Looking Bright

// News

Earlier in the month, Skwigly got to go round the incredible Nickelodeon UK studios to find out more about Season 2 of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as well as some of the exciting new shows that are coming up on Nick. Needless to say, it was very impressive (and not just because they gave us free pizza!)

Nickelodeon has been a constant provider for high quality entertainment, creating animated shows that have gone down in history as some of the best. This includes the hilarious Spongebob Squarepants and the brilliant Avatar: The Last Airbender. So how could Nick possibly make this any better? By pumping out an incredible new line up of shows.

Rabbids

Based on the hit game from Ubisoft, comes the first series out of the new Ubisoft-Nickelodeon partnership. Each episode lasts roughly 3-7 minutes and is jam packed with fun, silly, crazy adventures! No dialogue is used within the show but it features the crazy Rabbid language and plenty of slapstick humour.

Breadwinners

Breadwinners is a new, silly, funny comedy show about two characters – Sway Sway and BuhDuece who are two ducks on a mission to deliver bread in their rocket powered van. What’s incredibly interesting about the show is that it is animated in time to music. It is created by Steve Borst and touches on themes of childhood and is jam-packed with lots of childhood energy. Freedom and self-expression are also strong themes throughout the show.

Bad Seeds

Spongebob Storyboard Artist C.H. Greenblatt brings us a show that is naughty but nice. It tells the story Harvey, a bird with the best intentions meets the forest twins – Fee and Foo. Fee and Foo are the kind of characters that bring a lot of mischief to the forest. With no parental supervision, the three of them get up to wild adventures in the forest but there’s a still a lot of sweetness to it.

Pig Goat Banana Cricket

If Pig Goat Banana Cricket doesn’t yell out crazy fun to you then you HAVE to read on. Johnny Ryan and Dave Cooper are behind this crazy series which strangely features a Pig, a Goat, a Banana and A Cricket! Who are all roommates in their very own treehouse in this hyper-realistic oil on board series. David Sacks (Emmy-nominated, The Simpsons) is also on board as an executive producer. As far as characters, we have – Pig who is naive but trustworthy, Banana who is an older brother type figure who can be a bit of a jerk and a tease, Goat who is a bit of a bohemian but also a musician and finally Cricket who’s the scientist and sometimes puts the crew in danger with his experiments!
