Richard Williams unveils trailer for new short ‘Prologue’

// News

Animation legend and The Animator’s Survival Kit author Richard Williams (Who Framed Roger RabbitThe Thief and the Cobbler) has this week uploaded the first online footage of his latest short film Prologue to his YouTube channel.

Produced by Imogen Sutton and made at his working space at Aardman Animations, the film premiered at this year’s Annecy festival and will begin an Oscar-qualifying run of screenings at the Laemmle Royal in Los Angeles from September 11th through to the 17th. UK animation enthusiasts will have the opportunity to see it when it is screened at Bristol’s Encounters festival on the 18th.

Rendered with exquisite detail and jaw-dropping realism, Prologue (an offshoot from Richard’s ongoing, longer-form project bearing the tongue-in-cheek working title Will I Live to Finish This?) depicts a brutal fight between Athenian and Spartan warriors while a young girl looks on.

Keep your eyes (and ears) on Skwigly this week to hear more from the director himself on this fantastic new film. To hear more about his fascinating career have a listen to our 2013 interview in episode 17 of the Skwigly Podcast:
