Roger Rabbit to Return alongside Mickey Mouse?

// News

Are we on Mickey Mouse overload now? After what seems like decades of drought, the Mickey news is pouring in. After the announcement of 19 new Mickey animated shorts, today a promotional image surfaced online for a potential Mickey Mouse and Roger Rabbit buddy-film, The Stooge. Still early in development, it appears the film would be based on the Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis film of the same name. The project is being championed by Who Framed Roger Rabbit producer Gary K. Wolf.

MICKEYROGER

The film is hardly even at infant stage at this point, with several writers attempting to feel their way through script concepts. Still, the idea of an all new Mickey Mouse animated film is enough to get any animation fan excited. The big question on everyone’s lips, of course, is does this mark Mickey’s first feature foray into 3D feature animation, or could we see a return to 2D form? (Alright, perhaps that is the big question on MY lips personally, but it is an important one!) Given Disney’s recent announcement about leaving 2D animation behind, it seems very likely that the film would be 3D. Not that it couldn’t work, as you may have seen the early test footage, by Eric Goldberg of a possible Roger Rabbit sequel (canceled) featuring 3D-done-over-2D-drawings that kept Roger as wild and cartoon-y as ever.

Stay tuned to Skwigly for the latest news about The Stooge as it develops.
