Shaun the Sheep Flocks Off To Sweden

// News

A brand new Shaun the Sheep themed attraction is coming next summer! The attraction is sure to delight all Shaun the Sheep fans as it will invite them to enter the 3D world of Shaun and the Mossy Bottom farm flock and see, feel and taste their way around the farm and experience everything Shaun related.

One slight setback though, its heading to Sweden. Whilst UK fans might feel a little glum at this prospect the attraction proves the power of UK animation and its overseas success story and Shaun the Sheep in particularly as the show is enormously popular in 170 territories especially Japan where people can’t get enough of the mutton mime artist.

The park itself will cost £5 million and will be ready for 2016. For those devastated that their favourite sheep has shoved off don’t forget there is also a Shaun the Sheep Experience at Lands End, so no need to book a trip to Sweeden just yet!

Here is the full press release;

Aardman and Skånes Djurpark have announced an exciting new partnership to bring the first international Shaun the Sheep family attraction to Sweden. Based on the park’s 6 values – play, learn, share, explore, magic and excitement- Aardman and Skånes Djurpark will create an experience that will bring the visitors into Shaun’s world, all in 3D. Families will see, feel, taste, and experience the world of Shaun that so far has only been seen on TV and in the movie theatres.

”Skånes Djurpark’s vision is to become the number1 destination for families in Sweden. We could not have found a better partner in Shaun the Sheep and Aardman. The team of Aardman is passionate and the world’s best in their industry, entertaining children and adults globally. They create stories that are universal and without borders which has been an important factor in partnering with them for this project in a location close to both Denmark, Germany, Norway and Eastern Europe” said Håkon Lund, Chairman of Lund Gruppen.

“Aardman strives to collaborate with like-minded partners who share our core values in providing quality family entertainment experiences. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Skanes Djurpark and the Lund Group to premier Shaun the Sheep’s first ever international family attraction in Sweden. It will be a world’s first and a great way to give families an opportunity to immerse themselves into the fun and excitement of Shaun the Sheep” added Sean Clarke, Head of Rights and Brand Development at Aardman.

The Shaun the Sheep Land will open early in the summer of 2016 and is budgeted to cost around 5 million pounds.

Skånes Djurpark in Hoor, Skåne is located 45 min away from Malmø or 30 min away from Lund. The park is the world’s largest wilderness park/zoo with Nordic animals, like bear, lynx, wolves, seal, wild boar, birds of prey, etc. It also has a range of animal programmes. An important focus is nurturing and protecting traditional farm animal breeds, some saved from extinction due to the work in the park. The park consists of 85 different species in an area of 200 acres. Skane Djurpark was established in 1952 with the motto “animals without cages” and is known for its large animal habitats.
