2013 // Sport, Short Film, Traditional 2D

Dir: Wednesday Collective

What is the film about?

One day in July two girls race each other through a water park, until they are rudely interrupted by a new adversary. All set to an 80\’s track, of course.

Commissioned by : Agile Films
Directed and Animated by : Wednesday Collective
Music by : Tom Drew

What influenced it?

Once we had the story and had decided on the 80’s soundtrack it informed the look of the short. We took influences from 80’s poster art and 60’s minimal realism, focusing on shape and pattern to create a graphic look.

A little background information...

We’ve always wanted to make a music video together. When Agile Films offered us the chance to do some personal work with them for their monthly director’s shorts, we decided to go for it!

How was the film made?

We knew we wanted to make something short and sweet, so we came up with a simple narrative around two girls racing each other in a water park. We felt the race theme naturally lent itself to an 80’s track, and our amazing composer and sound designer Tom Drew took on the challenge to make the track for our fake music video. The animation was made in flash, with the help of some very generous friends.
