What is the film about?

Melly is curious to know where the spots on her strawberries come from, but when her mother cannot give her an answer, she uses her imagination to figure it out for herself.

What influenced it?

The concept of my film is very much inspired by my family, and the slice of life cartoons I watched as a child. Artistically this film was influenced by Mary Blair, the art of Toy Story and many wonderful illustrators whose lighthearted paintings and doodles have graced the internet.

A little background information...

I have always admired slice of life stories, especially about children and their crazy imagination. This story is loosely based around the interactions between my mother and I when I was around Melly’s age.

How was the film made?

The software I used for this film include Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Premier, Aftereffects and Toonboom Harmony. The animation in the real world are done traditionally in Flash and the animation in the monster world are done in Toonboom Harmony.

@lewisheriz @skwigly That first time you see it move is such a buzz and then you add sound and it just enters a whole new stratosphere.

@themooks @skwigly I know it's kind of obvious, but I used to see it as 'important but secondary'. I don't see it as secondary any more.
