The Simpsons to Crossover With Futurama Too!

// News

Last week we announced that The Simpsons were going to do an official crossover with Family Guy however now it has been announced that the Futurama gang will also take time out to meet the Simpson family!

Al Jean, executive producer for The Simpsons has stated at this years Comic-Con in San Diego that he is excited about the production as “Futurama is an easy fit” and that “The biggest thrill for him is that they don’t have to adjust the animation style”. Obviously both shows belonging to the same creator, Matt Groening mean that the productions have many resemblances.

But this isn’t the first time The Simpsons and Futurama have crossed over. Any of you comic book readers may be able to recall a two part comic book called “Crossover Crisis” and a sequel “Crossover Crisis II” in which the Futurama gang took a trip down to Springfield at the mercy of the dreaded Brain Spawn who projected the Planet Express crew into a copy of The Simpsons Comic. However this is the first crossover for the actual TV animated series. However in the world of the TV series both shows exist within each others “universes” as TV series. Something of a continuity headache for the super fans. This didn’t seem to stop Bender turning up in the 2005 episode “Future-Drama”.

You may be wondering, what’s with all the crossovers? Well if you didn’t already know, The Simpsons is celebrating 25 years and so to celebrate it’s reeling off the specials! They are certainly stealing much of the attention at Comic Con after they also showed a preview of Guillermo Del Toro’s “Treehouse of Horror 2013”.

As for the plot, it’s main focus will be around Bart and Bender after Bender has to kill Bart when Bart does something to make the future pretty grim perhaps a prank too far Bart this time? All the main Futurama cast will be lending their voices to the episode including Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Phil LaMarr, and Maurice LaMarche. And the same for the Simpsons cast including Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria.

The episode will be aired May 2014 just before the Family Guy/Simpsons crossover which will take place Autumn 2014.
