Our memories, experiences, dreams, but also his / her stories create our lives. And animation helps us to understand this complicated world.

From intimate stories of searching for oneself to individual stories entangled in Zeitgeist. Who was Andy Warhol really? What happened to the Aral Sea? Why orgasm is so important? Who were the first pioneers of space? Will you remember my name? Many questions on with we will try to answer during the 4th cruise of RISING OF LUSITANIA.

44 passengers from 24 countries will take part in the 4th cruise of RISING OF LUSITANIA AnimaDoc Film Festival (20 in the Best Professional AnimaDoc staterooms, 14 in Best Student AnimaDoc, 3 in Best AnimaMockDoc and 7 in the new stateroom – BASED ON HIS / HER STORY). However, this is only the competition floor. In addition to him, the cruise program will also include special sections (including SLAVA UKRAINI! / ŽYVIE BIELARUŚ!), AnimaDocPANORAMA (17 extraordinary films from, among others, Ecuador, Nicaragua, or Trinidad and Tobago), documentaries about Themersons and Wladyslaw Starewicz and the most famous full-length animadoc of the season – FLEE. The IV RISING OF LUSITANIA AnimaDoc Film Festival will be held for the second time in Lodz (“Boat City”), Poland, 07-13.09.2022.

RISING OF LUSITANIA is a reflection on the times in which we lived in the past and live today; it is a reflection on the complicated condition of a man; attitudes towards himself and other beings; attitudes towards the natural environment, unhealed history (his and her story) and our common future. The RISING OF LUSITANIA cruise is constantly asking questions, sowing doubts, taking viewers out of their comfort zones, and jointly – creators and viewers – searching for answers and positive solutions.

Moreover, we will discuss together – academics, artists and activists – whether animation can unite us in the face of difficult experiences during II RISING OF LUSITANIA ANIMADOC CONFERENCE ONLINE (10-11.09.2022). Submission deadline: Sep 2nd, 2022. Participation is free of charge. All details you can find HERE

Rising of Lusitania – AnimaDoc Film Festival is created by the fully independent project Animation Across Borders.
