The International Animation Festival, Anibar, has closed the call for entries for the 15th edition of the festival, which will take place on July 15-21, 2024, in the city of Peja.

Over 7 months, 1531 artistic animated films from 77 countries around the world have applied, making this the highest number of submissions ever. The call was distributed to animation studios, renowned directors, as well as to young and potential talents in the industry, animation departments at universities worldwide, and other well-known platforms for gathering animated projects. From 34 countries that applied last year, this year the number has expanded to 43 more countries, including the Philippines, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Ecuador, Vietnam, Uruguay, Syria, the Arab Republic, Peru, Palestine, New Zealand, Malaysia, Macau, Lebanon, Iraq, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Azerbaijan.

The target has not only been the newest films but also those addressing current themes of contemporary society, embedding them most effectively within this medium, which is crucial for
the festival.

The programming team is now in the process of selecting films to categorize them into 6 competitive categories and 2 special programs.

The competitions of this edition will be International, Student, Balkan, Human Rights Films, Music Video Animation, and Young Audience. Meanwhile, the two special programs will be Panorama and Experimental. Among other things, Anibar will invite and collaborate with industry professionals to curate special thematic programs, focusing on specific concepts and
themes.

Encouraging dialogue and treating animated film as an educational and attractive form to communicate global issues, individual and collective experiences from various perspectives, is what Anibar Festival aims to achieve through this year’s film program.

The final selection will be made by the beginning of next month, as work is underway to finalize all programming aspects to make this edition as beautiful and unforgettable as the previous ones.

In the meantime, we invite and encourage all animation enthusiasts to follow the festival’s updates on online profiles, so as not to miss opportunities for creative and professional development.
