Animasyros 2021 International Animation Festival is back for the 14th year, from 22 to 26 September 2021, with a central theme of Freedom, under the auspices of the “Greece 2021” Committee. Its rich program, is presented once again in a phygital form, in various locations on the island of Syros and digitally through its platform.

Agora is organized for the 7th year, launching a new strategic partnership with the world-famous Animation Studio Folimage. Folimage animation studio, a constant supporter of auteur films, is known for its rich catalog of more than 45 short films as well as classic TV series. It also focuses on the full range of animation development, with the strategic goal, since its creation, of educating young creators. In this spirit, Folimage founded La Poudrière in 1999, an animated film school, in 2004 L’équipée, an association that promotes animation in cinema, and the Artist-in-Residence program, which offers artists the opportunity to create a 5 minute personal animated film for children 5 to 7 years old, combining comedy and humor.

The collaboration with the Animation Studio Folimage, as well as the presentations, the round tables, the seminars and the networking meetings organized by the Agora this year, will offer the opportunity to the international public that is professionally engaged in the art of animation, or, simply loves it, to expand its network, promote its work, meet with renowned professionals in the field, discover the international community and get in touch with the successes of the future.

For this purpose, Agora in collaboration with Studio Folimage organizes a 4-day Pitch Coaching Workshop, offering the opportunity to the participants of the selected projects to prepare their works effectively and present them at the Pitching Forum to the public and also to an international committee of professionals from the field of animation.

The main speaker of this year’s Agora is the distinguished artist Joanna Quinn (UK), who along with Nancy Denney Phelps (BE), Corinne Destombes (FR), Maria Lorenzo (ES) and Marineta Mak Kritikou (GR), will form the committee of the Pitching Forum.

The winner of the Pitching Forum Agora Animasyros will be the official guest of the Artist-in-Residence program, organized by Studio Folimage. Starting in early 2022, the winner will move to Studio Folimage, Valence, France for 1 month to create his film with the studio facilities. The pitch coaching workshop will be led by French Corinne Destombes, Head of Development of Folimage and director Helen Friren. The workshop will take place from 22 to 24 September in Syros, during the Festival. The Pitching Forum will take place on September 25th, and on September 26th the winner of the best pitch will be announced at the Festival’s closing ceremony.

In addition, on the occasion of the MEDAnima tribute, the Agora this year will accept applications for participation in the Pitching Forum of creators / producers from countries in the wider Mediterranean region. At the same time, people from the International Animation community will present topics related to the following sections:
