Commissioned by BBC Children’s & Education and France Télévisions, the 26 x 22’ series for kids age 8+ has been created by BAFTA-winning writing and directing duo, Tom Gran and Martin Woolley.

Vanishing Point follows a group of four teens whose world is turned upside-down when their town is overrun by ordinary-looking objects with bizarre, unpredictable powers.

Set in the shabby seaside town of Vanishing Point, the series introduces Ivy, Cole, Zefi, and Splash who become unlikely heroes as they unravel the mystery of the objects alongside Bernie, a secretive – and mostly grumpy – junkyard proprietor and expert in the strange objects.

They make a formidable team, secretly protecting the town from the dangers and mayhem of the supernatural objects which are thought to have extra-dimensional power trapped inside.

Whether hunting down a fridge magnet that manipulates metal objects to cause chaos, or a bow tie which compels the wearer to reveal their innermost thoughts, every episode is a new adventure full of surprises, teamwork and fun.

Meanwhile, there are sinister inter-dimensional agents on a quiet mission to drain the town of its cosmic energy.

Vanishing Point brings a fresh take on comedy-action storytelling, blending sharp humour with exhilarating escapades.

The series is a dynamic coproduction commissioned by BBC Children’s & Education for CBBC and also by France Télévisions, with BBC Studios Kids & Family as lead producer and global distributor. The production brings together a powerhouse collaboration with France-based Watch Next Media and Irish animation coproducer Kavaleer Productions, alongside support from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and CNC, France.

Managing Director, BBC Studios Kids & Family, Cecilia Persson, says:

Vanishing Point offers a fresh perspective on action-driven storytelling that we can’t wait to share with audiences around the world. We are passionate about creating shows that resonate with children worldwide and it has been invaluable having CBBC and France Télévisions as solid supporters of Vanishing Point from the very early stages. Working alongside Watch Next Media and Kavaleer Productions represents the best in coproduction – blending creative ingenuity with commercial expertise to produce a show that perfectly balances quirky humour, action and mystery.

Philippe Alessandri, CEO, Watch Next Media, says:

Partnering with BBC Studios Kids & Family on Vanishing Point is an exciting opportunity to deliver a show for the 8+ audience that is funny, fast and furious and full of existential threats related to seemingly ordinary objects. Tom and Martin’s creativity shines through in wanting to make a show in which the extraordinary can happen in the ordinary and where kids are encouraged to see the world in a new light.

Gary Timpson, MD Kavaleer Productions, adds:

Kavaleer is delighted to be given the opportunity to collaborate with BBC Studios Kids & Family on their fantastic series, Vanishing Point, and to once again link up with Watch Next Media.

Sarah Muller, Senior Head of Commissioning for 7+ for BBC Children’s & Education says:

Families are set to be captured by the twists and turns of the adventures of the teen characters in Vanishing Point. This comedy animation series demonstrates our unwavering commitment and investment in the global animation industry.

Pierre Siracusa, Director of Animation, Young Audiences and Education, says:

Vanishing Point is a funny comedy adventure that will resonate with anyone over the age of 8. It’s a fruitful collaboration between talented artists from both sides of the Channel, a true partnership that started at the very beginning of development and has resulted in a delightful series.
