Dirty Work’s ‘Beat Cancer Off’ wins Animation Grand Prix at CICLOPE

Multi-award-winning Brazilian studio Dirty Work has added another major accolade to its growing collection, taking home the Animation Grand Prix last week at CICLOPE Berlin for Beat Cancer Off, the acclaimed mixed-media campaign created alongside VML Health for non-profit organisation Fuck Cancer.
Widely regarded as one of the leading global celebrations of excellence in audiovisual craft, CICLOPE awarded the film a total of nine honours, including the Animation Grand Prix, two Golds and six Bronzes, making Dirty Work one of the most awarded production companies at this year’s festival.
Created to raise awareness of prostate cancer prevention, Beat Cancer Off is built around the scientific insight that men who ejaculate 21 or more times per month may significantly reduce their risk of prostate cancer. To bring the message to life, Dirty Work assembled a team of more than 50 artists, combining 2D animation, stop motion, cut-out techniques, puppetry and mixed- media storytelling to create a visually ambitious film in which each sequence features its own distinctive aesthetic.
The latest wins continue an extraordinary global awards run for the project, which has already earned a Grand LIA and six Golds at the London International Awards, a Grand Prix, Gold and Bronze at the New York Festivals Advertising Awards, and eight Cannes Lions.
Beyond the trophies, the continued recognition reflects the way the creative community has embraced the film’s blend of craft, humour and purpose. Each successive award has introduced the work to new audiences and helped extend the reach of an important public health message, ensuring the campaign continues to spark conversations well beyond its original launch.
