Beryl Returns! Watch the trailer for the new Joanna Quinn short ‘Affairs of the Art’ here

Beryl, the star of Girl’s Night Out, Body Beautiful and Dreams and Desires: Family Ties is making a return to screens soon in a brand new 16 minute short film the National Film Board of Canada have announced today.

How many obsessions can one family have? In Joanna Quinn and Les Mills’ Affairs of the Art, we reconnect with Beryl, the working-class heroine who not only reveals her own obsession with drawing but exposes the addictions of her eccentric family, which include pickling, screw threads and pet taxidermy.

From director Joanna Quinn and screenwriter/producer Les Mills the short sees Beryls latest obsession with art takes control of her life and the life of those around her as we are introduced to her gawky son Colin and meet her narcissistic sister Beverly. We also get to see more of husband Ifan, A lot more,

The film is the first Beryl short from Beryl Productions since 2006 and marks their first co-production with the National Film Board of Canada. Affairs of the Art directed by Joanna Quinn will get it’s world premiere at the 2021 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival alongside the European premiere of HIDE by Daniel Gray, another NFB production.
