BBC and France Télévisions commission ‘Big Lizard’ from Beakus, Watch Next Media and Je Suis Bien Content

UK broadcaster CBeebies have, alongside France Télévisions, announced the joint commissioned of Big Lizard, an upcoming 52 x 7’ CG animated preschool series set to arrive on screens Autumn 2024. Directed by Amaël Isnard, Big Lizard will be co-produced by UK animation studio Beakus (Olobob Top, Yakka Dee!) alongside France-based production companies Watch Next Media (Hello Kitty Super Style!) and Je Suis Bien Content (Persepolis).

Big Lizard is a brand new comedy adventure series about a young astronaut called Cosima and a big lizard called…Big Lizard! The series is a mixture of comedy and adventure, with some light education about science and prehistoric planet Earth.

Imagine having a whole alien planet to explore with your new best friend who happens to be a fun-loving Big Lizard! Cosmic!

Big Lizard is created by Isnard and Steve Smith (Beakus), who is also set to produce alongside Franck Ekinci of Je Suis Bien Content. The show’s cast includes Josh Widdicombe (The Last LegQITaskmaster) as Dad, Mandip Gill (HollyoaksDoctor Who) as D.O.R.I.S. and Lois Sefton (123 Number Squad) as Cosima,

Global distribution will be headed up by the multi-Academy Award® and BAFTA® award winning Bristol-based studio Aardman Animations, whose other upcoming productions include the feature length sequel Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget this December and a brand new Wallace & Gromit film for 2024.
