Cosgrove Hall Films Archive – Animation Callout for Seed Commissions

// Hot off the Press

Skwigly

Creative Industries Trafford (CIT), in collaboration with the Cosgrove Hall Film Archive at Waterside Arts, is excited to provide three seed commissions of £500 to support the creation of new animated short films of no longer than five minutes duration.

We are inviting applications from animators and artists using animation based in the North West who are seeking to develop new short form animation. This call out is supported by Arts Council England and the DCMS.

We wish to support the animation talent in the the region to aid the sector’s recovery as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. These commissions support new works in progress, including the development of animatics to take projects beyond concept stage.

THE OFFER

  • Three awards of £500 each are available to individual artists or collaborators (eg animators and writers, animators and character designers) making a joint application.
  • Mentoring support from our Animation Coordinator.
  • Access to the Cosgrove Hall Films Archive and advice sessions with our Archive Manager.

This project seeks to develop the Cosgrove Hall Films Archive as a ‘living archive’ that inspires new work from animators. We’re seeking proposals for new short films with original characters and storylines that respond to techniques and materials from within the Archive, such as stop motion and hand drawn animation.

  • Artists will retain all copyright for their work. If you have any questions about eligibility then please get in touch.
