5-10 May 2026 (All Day)
Königstraße 22, Stuttgart, 70173

About Event

From 5 to 10 May 2026, Stuttgart will once again become a central meeting point for animation, filmmakers and audiences. At ITFS, international animation meets the regional creative scene, film education and industry support.

The ITFS celebrates artistic animation in all its facets – from competitions and curated film programmes to workshops, talks and open-air screenings.

This year’s focus is on the silhouette technique. With this, the ITFS honours film pioneer Lotte Reiniger and celebrates the 100th anniversary of the oldest existing feature-length animated film, THE ADVENTURES OF PRINCE ACHMED.

Young ITFS offers an expanded programme for children, young people, families and schools: films, workshops, hands-on activities and educational formats convey knowledge and invite participants to experience animation actively, engage critically and become creative.

This year’s competition programmes present the diverse perspectives of contemporary animation – artistically, thematically and formally. The films tell stories of encounters, formative decisions, memory, identity and inner worlds – sometimes quiet and poetic, sometimes visually powerful and experimental. For younger audiences, themes of friendship, solidarity, farewell and the feeling of home take centre stage.

The festival programme is gradually being updated. Check out the calendar to not miss any highlights: https://itfs.de/en/programme/calendar/
