Fest Anča 2026 Opens Call for Entries for Slovakia’s Oscar-Qualifying Animation Festival
Fest Anča International Animation Festival – the only Academy Awards® qualifying festival in Slovakia – has officially launched its call for entries for the 2026 edition. Animated short films, student films, music videos, Slovak animated shorts and films for children are all invited to submit to this year’s competition categories.
Registration is now open and runs until January 31, 2026. The festival accepts only short animated films and music videos completed after January 1, 2024 and submitted with English subtitles.
This year’s call for entries is open via FilmFreeway. Submissions are free of charge until November 30, 2025. Films submitted between December 1 and December 31, 2025 require a €5 registration fee per film, while submissions made during the Late Deadline period (January 1–31, 2026) will be subject to a €10 fee per film.
At Fest Anča 2026, filmmakers can compete for the prestigious Anča Awards in the following categories:
- Best Animated Short (€1500)
- Best Student Animated Short (€1000)
- Best Animated Music Video (€1000)
- Best Animated Short for Children (€1000)
- Best Slovak Animated Short (€1500)
Fest Anča 2026 will take place from June 30 to July 5, 2026 in Žilina, Slovakia.
