Busy Summer for the animated duo with New Episodes, DVD & Calendar Release and BFI Screening

Karrot Entertainment’s award-winning 2D animated series Sarah & Duck is gearing up for a busy summer with a host of broadcast, promotional and retail activity over the coming months including new episodes on CBeebies, a BFI screening and a DVD and Calendar release.

Onscreen, children’s televisionlegend Derek Griffiths is joining The Thick of It’s Roger Allam and Downton Abbey’s Lesley Nicol to breathe life into the new character of the Cloud Captain in brand new episodes of Sarah & Duck, which will be showing on CBeebies in August. The new episodes will be accompanied by a special “Sarah & Duck Week” on the channel with repeats of favourite episodes and lots of Sarah & Duck games and activities on the CBeebies’ website.

There will also be a unique chance to preview Derek Griffiths’ first episode, Cloud Tower, in a special screening at the BFI celebrating 60 years of the finest BBC children’s characters on Sunday July 13th, with Derek Griffiths in attendance. In addition, fans of Sarah & Duck will be able to plan and keep track of their family’s activities for the next 16 months, with the release of a brand new planner available from Carousel Calendars on August 1st priced £9.99. And a new DVD from BBC Worldwide featuring ten episodes from the series will be available to buy from September 8th. Small talking Sarah & Duck plush toys and a large plush Duck from Posh Paws International are also now available from Tesco, Sainsbury’s and other major retailers.

“With new episodes for the Summer and beyond and lots of exciting retail activity from now up until Christmas, there’s going to be plenty to keep Sarah & Duck’s many loyal fans amused for some time to come!” says producer and Karrot Entertainment co-founder Jamie Badminton.

Following the gentle adventures of a wide-eyed, 7-year-old girl and her feathered best friend, the delightfully-drawn animation has been a huge hit since its debut in 2013, regularly appearing in CBeebies’ Top Ten programmes (BARB) and Broadcast’s Top Ten shows for viewers aged 4-15, scooping up a major award and making the shortlist of the Radio Times & BFI’s favourite BBC children’s characters of all time poll.

Internationally, the series is shown in over 80 countries airing on CBeebies international channels as well as other key international broadcasters including Sprout in the USA, ABC Australia, Canal + in France and NHK Japan. It makes its debut on Kika in Germany and Disney Junior in Canada this month.

Sarah & Duck is a Karrot Entertainment production for CBeebies UK and BBC Worldwide. It was co-created by Karrot Entertainment’s Creative Director Tim O’Sullivan and designer/writer Sarah Gomes Harris – based on her own love of ducks as a child. The producer is Jamie Badminton and the executive producers are Alison Stewart, Chris White and Henrietta Hurford-Jones.
