Boasting an artistic sensibility that “plays with the senses in a way that lends an authentically human element to all of her visuals, with an animation style which brings playful characters to life through bold colours and textural brush strokes”, Katy’s work as a director includes her Kingston graduation short Contact (in which a lonely, stranded astronaut sends out a signal in search of human contact) as well as the animated short film An Invisible Threat, created in partnership with the Girl Effect and Nutrition International for the announcement of their two-year partnership to address the lack of knowledge about nutrition among adolescent girls in Indonesia.

Other work by Katy includes creating the visuals for three poems by Atticus, Yrsa Daley-Ward and JM Storm for World Poetry Day as well as creating music videos for Toto Bona Lokua and Tom Rosenthal.

The playfulness and experimentation and the boldness of Blinkink’s voice as a production company was really appealing to me and also representative of the kind of work I want to be making.
