CGI Artist and Japanese Animation Director, Masaya Inaba joins Artificial Kreativity for a Kreative Talk
Artificial Kreativity announces a Kreative Talk with CGI artist and Japanese animation director Masaya Inaba, exploring how traditional hand-drawn animation, background art, and CGI come together to create some of Japanese animation’s most memorable films.
From Manga inspirations in Brazil to the prestigious Studio 4°C in Tokyo, Masaya Inaba will share the journey that led him into Japanese animation and his pursuit of it becoming a traditional craft in Japan. Through production examples and personal reflections from his work on ChaO, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 3, All You Need is Kill, and MUTAFUKAZ he will offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at the making of complex animated sequences. This includes working with traditional anime painters, and the relationship between hand drawn animation, background art, and CGI—showing how digital tools can extend, rather than replace, the traditions of Japanese animation.
For me, working in anime production as a CGI artist is not simply about creating 3D assets or using technology. It is about understanding how different people work, connecting their skills, and helping their work shine—it’s a way of expressing stories and emotions through moving images.
