Moïa Jobin-Paré’s “No Objects” to premiere at Chromatic Festival in Montreal

// News

Following 2016’s Annecy “Off-Limits” Award-winning 4min15 au révélateur, musician and audiovisual artist Moïa Jobin-Paré‘s latest experimental animated short No Objects is set to premiere this month. Featuring sound design by Benjamin Proulx-Mathers and produced at the NFB by Marc Bertrand, the film combines hands-on, analogue and digital techniques to manipulate photographs and sound in “an ode to touch in which every gesture is magnified and the image can be heard, the film offers both a bracing and contemplative meditation on the tactile world”.

The film’s world premiere, featuring a live-music accompaniment and photo-scratching performance by the director, will take place at Montreal’s Chromatic Festival on Thursday May 16th at 6pm, with screenings at Festival international de musique actuelle de Victoriaville, Vienna Shorts Festival, and Animafest Zagreb to follow. The premiere’s musical performers will consist of Cédric Dind-Lavoie (double bass), Simon Drouin (musical saw), Benjamin Proulx-Mathers (sound manipulations), Julie Cloutier Delorme and Martin Tétreaul (turntables).
