There is a strong Italian creative and production imprint on the return of Mr. Men Little Miss Mini Adventures, the 2D animated series available from 10 July with weekly releases on the official YouTube channel.
After producing the first season – which surpassed a total of 1.5 million views online – Maga Animation Studio was reconfirmed by Sanrio for the executive production and direction of the twelve new episodes (each lasting approximately two and a half minutes).

This second season continues seamlessly from the work previously carried out, but expands its emotional range and staging complexity within a narrative universe deeply rooted in British tradition. The episodes deliver a fast-paced ensemble story where the exaggerated traits of the characters become the engine for visual gags, unexpected twists and humour. The characters’ differences are not erased. Instead, they find a visual and rhythmic balance over time.
This development stems from a highly synergistic creative process. The season was co-directed by Francesca Pietrobelli and Eleonora Di Nardo, who also wrote the scripts. As Di Nardo explains, the structure based on recognisable traits digs deeper this year: “The characters tackle more complex and less linear emotional experiences related to the dynamics of growing up. It starts from a clear identity, but it is when that identity struggles to adapt that the story takes shape, transforming individual difficulties into an opportunity for group discovery.”
The visual and staging work builds upon this narrative spark. Francesca Pietrobelli describes the directorial approach towards small daily moments: “We focused on concrete actions: tackling something difficult, staying in a situation one tends to avoid, or trying to change one’s perspective. That’s where recognition happens for younger audiences, not because everything gets resolved, but because they see that challenges are part of everyone’s experience and can be faced.”

The same philosophy guides the writing, which centres on relationships while avoiding any didactic tone. Producer Serena Beltrame describes the narrative approach: “The stories stem from the relationships between characters, from which a natural lesson emerges without a preachy moral. Flaws create comical situations where children can laugh and recognise themselves. Cooperation takes shape when differences become obvious and require a middle ground, transforming what seems like a limitation into an asset.”
The series continues to be developed in close collaboration with Sanrio GmbH, maintaining strong consistency with the franchise’s original identity. Visually, Mr. Men Little Miss Mini Adventures retains its clean design – entrusted once again to production designer Alessia Garofalo – alongside dynamic direction and smooth staging.
In terms of sound, the series maintains a link to the previous season thanks to the original soundtrack by Christian Gramaglia, while evolving through the sound design, handled once again by Paolo Piccardo. The greater narrative complexity, featuring more ensemble-focused episodes and wider character interaction, has required a more intricate audio approach. This includes original musical contributions tailored for specific sequences, such as a short a cappella choral piece composed and recorded specifically for one of the episodes. Dubbing is once again handled by Sample, featuring a British cast of actors.
Massimo Carrier Ragazzi, CEO of Maga Animation Studio, connects the creative team’s approach to the studio’s broader vision: “These stories talk about differences without oversimplifying them. The work behind the writing and direction has made it possible to preserve the iconic language of the series while expanding its complexity. We start from recognisable traits to portray, with a light touch, what it means to grow up together. It is an example of how animation can make people laugh while simultaneously offering a space for emotional exploration for children and families.”
