Sauvages marks the welcome return of Claude Barras in the feature chair and whilst the setting might not be as familiar as the playground reality of his previous film - My Life as a Courgette -the immediate messages about discovering more about yourself and your past and opening yourself up to a wider world and the need to be empathetic to one another and the environment are universal for adults and children alike.

Whilst Michel Hazanavicius is primarily known outside of France for his comedic work, there is no misunderstanding with this film. Here we see a portrait of humanity, for all of it’s good and all of its evil. Most Precious of Cargoes reminds the audience of the power of animation, the need for empathy and understanding and begs the audience to not repeat the mistakes of the past.
