Recruitment For ANIMARKT Stop Motion Pitching And Workshops Extended

// News

Two formats in the Pitching section, workshops and meetings with the best experts in the animation industry and awards that support  creators in the film production process – ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum organized by MOMAKIN opens the path of international career. Now the creators have an additional chance to present their project and participate in classes conducted by Christoph Erbes and Thiago Calçado, because the deadline for submitting applications has been extended to September 11th.

ANIMARKT was created to support the animation industry. It has been proven many times that participation in Pitching translates directly into the future of the artists and their projects – Agnieszka Kowalewska-Skowron from MOMAKIN, the organizer of the ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum, emphasizes. – We want to give young creators a chance to prepare their applications in the best possible way, which is why we decided to extend the recruitment deadline.

Pitching is the competition section of the ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum, which gives a unique opportunity to present the project in front of the animation industry experts, gain partners and win prizes that will support their film production processes and open up career paths for them.

This year, for the first time, applications for ANIMARKT Pitching have two formats. One of them is dedicated to feature films or TV series or TV specials at every stage of production. The second one is for short film projects in development (at least the first draft of the script and lasting less than 26 minutes). What’s important is that 80% of the project has to be planned as a stop motion animation. From among all the submitted applications, the selection committee will choose 15 projects in the first category and 10 in the second. The organizers are waiting for applications to the Pitching section until September 11th and the recruitment results will be announced before October 1st.

Registration for workshops in the Masters section is also open until September 11th. – Workshops are a chance to meet the best experts in the animation industry and learn some secrets. This year, development workshops will be conducted by Christophe Erbes. These classes will be devoted to all animation techniques. Thiago Calçado will talk about character animation and the secrets of working on the set – emphasizes Paulina Zacharek, co-organizer of ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum.

To participate in the workshops during ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum 2022, participants should complete the application form, which is available on the website and attach the required materials – CV and showreel. The number of spots for both training courses is limited. The deadline for applications is September 11th.

Participants can choose from workshops dedicated to the development of series for children and character animation. The first one will be led by Christophe Erbes, who is an international consultant for children’s media, previously worked, e.g. for Canal+ International. During classes participants will learn how to structure a created story and how to remain original, and at the same time meet market expectations. The second workshop – character animation will be hosted by Thiago Calçado, who has worked on such productions as Wes Anderson’s Oscar-nominated “Isle of Dogs”, or latest and Guillermo Del Toro’s Netflix film “Pinocchio”. In Łódź, he will focus on acting for feature films and the work of the animator on such productions. He will talk about setting up a shot with riggers and the puppets, looking for live action reference, communication with the director or the ability to animate in relation to light or scenography.

This year ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum will be held from 5 to 8 November 2022 in Łódź. Apart from the Pitching competition and workshops, the main programme will comprise masterclasses and panel discussions. The forum could not take place without the Business section which focuses on networking in the industry or recruitment sessions for global animation studios.

The event is co-financed by the Visegrad Fund and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special purpose fund. The project is also co-financed by the Polish Film Institute.
