Seed were approached by South Downs National Park Authority to pitch a motion graphics film to explain the new landscape-led Local Plan. The plan required the residents to get involved.

Morgan Powell Seed’s Creative Director explains “We felt that there was an opportunity to create a film that was closer to nature than your usual motion graphics offering, and our pitch focus was highlighting the emotional connection of the residents towards the natural landscape. We planned to create wooden peg-type characters that would sit in this landscape and film them- as though each scene was a moving postcard.”

Seed invested in a lathe and fashioned a collection of characters from initial designs. They hand painted the detail and then created the props – bunting, fishing rods and kites etc. It was a 3 day shoot in the hills and valleys of the National Park courtesy of the Park Rangers, who provided off road access to private areas. Seed then added a sprinkling of CG, in the form of bird box shops and houses and also added animated eyes to the characters. The film was literally a very hands-on project, which involved most of the Seed team at some stage along the way.
