What is the film about?

It’s Christmas Eve and Little Johnny has left his robot with an old repair man. Will it be returned in time for Christmas Day?

What influenced it?

Difficult to say, the way I animate has really been influenced by my photography rather than any animators.

A little background information...

Like most of us I have watched many feel-good animated Christmas commercials recently. I thought it would be fun to make a film that reflected how I actually feel this Christmas – in light of all the problems. It’s really me sticking my finger up to 2020.

How was the film made?

This stop motion film was made with my Canon 5D III and Dragonframe. Everything is done in camera with the exception of the snowfall. The shop and robot were made by a friend of mine and were already part of his stock so I just borrowed them. The remaining props came from my shed and the Christmas trees and snow from a nearby garden centre. From concept to final film was around 10 days. In total I think I spent about £250.
