What is the film about?

As part of the 10-year anniversary edition release of Jacob Collier’s In My Room album, the video for “Where Did My Diamond Go?” portrays a character caught in an unstoppable, unquenchable spiral, chasing something that can’t give them life, while missing the possibility of a true treasure.

A little background information...

Jacob Collier and his team approached me with the idea of creating an animation for this piece as part of the 10-year anniversary edition release of the album In My Room. “Where Did My Diamond Go?” was actually the musical seed for “Lark In A Sky Shop,” another piece I created a music video for (released last year). They thought it would be great to have me work on this one too, as a continuation. The song was presented to me as a “sonorous sketching piece.” Hearing it for the first time, I was very excited to translate these various and numerous sounds into visuals. This video was made entirely on an iPad, as time didn’t allow a project on paper. It was a completely different workflow from paper, forcing me to think differently, but it was equally interesting to explore.
