South Korean Animated Short Dinner Wins at Lund Fantastic Film Festival 2026
South Korean filmmaker Haeji Jeong’s animated short Dinner has won Best International Short Film at the 2026 Lund Fantastic Film Festival in Sweden.
The award was presented during the festival’s closing ceremony on 4 November, following an eight-day celebration of horror, science fiction, fantasy and unconventional cinema. This year’s festival featured 70 short films from more than 25 countries.
A dialogue-free animated short running just under five minutes, Dinner transforms a love story into an unsettling dining experience. The film follows two people who meet, fall in love and gradually find themselves transformed into a meal.
Combining 2D computer animation with drawing on paper, the film blends romance, drama and horror through its visual storytelling.
Written, directed and produced by Haeji Jeong, with music by Young-Seok Choi, Dinner screened on the festival’s opening night ahead of the American feature Blood Shine, before going on to receive the festival’s Best International Short Film award.
Jeong is a South Korean animation director associated with the Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts). The filmmaker’s graduation short Sura, exploring high school life and pregnancy, received a Jury Mention for Graduation Film at Annecy in 2020, while the subsequent short See You on the Other Side was selected for the short film competition at the Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF) in 2023.
Founded in 1995, Lund Fantastic Film Festival is Sweden’s oldest genre film festival. Its 2026 edition took place from 28 October to 4 November at Kino in Lund, celebrating international filmmaking across horror, science fiction, fantasy and experimental cinema.
