Jeans for Genes Day (jeansforgenesday.org) is pleased to announce TV favourite, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, will be their character ambassador to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the charity. For the second consecutive year SpongeBob will be swapping his iconic brown pants in favour of a pair of denim ones along with his friends Patrick star, and Sandy Cheeks along with pet Gary the Snail will undergo a denim makeover to encourage people to sign up and help raise funds in support of this year’s campaign.

To celebrate the partnership, exclusive keyrings featuring SpongeBob and his friends sporting their new denim looks have been created to help raise money for children with genetic disorders. This year schools are able to sell the exclusive keyrings for £2 each in a branded fundraising box, on a sale-or- return basis. Each box contains a mixture of SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks and Gary the Snail all wearing their jeans for Jeans for Genes Day. Boxes can be ordered from the charity by emailing saleorreturn@jeansforgenesday.org or calling 020 7199 3300. Last year, SpongeBob trolley tokens were incredibly successful. The keyring boxes sold out before Jeans for Genes Day – with net income of £40K. In aid of the twentieth anniversary SpongeBob will be proving further support for Jeans for Genes Day by completing one of the charity’s 20 Extraordinary Day Challenges. SpongeBob has agreed to visit a number of schools across the country taking part in several activities including a denim tug of war, all to help raise awareness of children living with genetic disorders.

Laura Pattison, Campaign Director at Jeans for Genes says

“SpongeBob SquarePants is one of our favourite ambassadors, we are delighted to have him on board for a second year. SpongeBob plays a vital role encouraging schools across the UK to don their denims and raise all-important funds for the vital care and support for children born with genetic disorders”

Tina McCann, Managing Director, Nickelodeon UK & Ireland:

‘We’re so pleased that SpongeBob SquarePants is once again able to help raise money and awareness for such a worthwhile cause, as well as helping to celebrate such a monumental anniversary for Jeans for Genes Day.’

Jeans for Genes Day which takes place on 18th September 2015, has so far raised more than £40million over the last twenty years. The annual fundraising appeal encourages supporters to do something extraordinary by wearing their jeans and making a donation that will transform the lives of children and families affected by genetic disorders.
