Titmouse Studios, known for animated hits such as Big Mouth, Harriet the Spy, The Venture Bros., Metalocalypse, and Star Trek: Lower Decks has partnered with prolific cartoonist KC Green to develop an animated series entitled Anime Club, which is based on KC Green’s comic of the same name. The collaboration, which was facilitated by Maximum Orbit, seeks to explore Green’s timely theme of what modern fandom means through the eyes of a group of high school outcasts who are obsessed with pop-culture and decide to form an unofficial, unfunded, and misunderstood anime club.

If you’re familiar with KC’s original Anime Club comic, you know the joy—and terror—of seeing yourself reflected in these kids. It has been a thrill working with KC to adapt and expand his original story to reflect a world where the popularity and prevalence of anime has grown, but the fans are still just as pure in their passion as they’ve ever been. Now is the perfect time for this show.

It’s undeniable how shows like Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Naruto have penetrated American pop culture. My generation grew up with this stuff, the generation after mine is only getting more into it, and Anime Club is all about exploring how the genre has shaped our lives.” KC Green’s Anime Club is represented by Maximum Orbit.
